Coach Michelle Reviews the Saucony Peregrine 12

Saucony Peregrine 12s

Both Stefan and I have been coached by Michelle Martinez of Trailblazers; she is a great runner and an excellent coach and so we really respect her feedback. I know, like me, she has been running in the Saucony Peregrine for many years and so when the new model came out I thought she would be the perfect person to review them for us. Here is her review … Happy Reading!!

I have been a huge fan of Saucony Peregrine trail shoes for years and get very excited when a new model is released. Each model usually presents itself with slight changes or improvements generated from the feedback Saucony customers have provided on previous models.

So, what does the Saucony Peregrine12 have that makes it such a great trail shoe???

Firstly, popping the shoe on straight out of the box, they immediately feel comfortable, flexible, supportive, and light.

The toe box is fairly generous for which I love to spread out my toes, allowing for foot expansion during those long hot runs. The midfoot is secure and the inner sole is thicker but softer than previous models. Some runners have found the inner sole on previous models to bunch up, however, with a change of material and design, I feel Saucony addressed this issue very nicely.

The tongue is padded for extra comfort, and there is an addition of an elastic tab to tuck under the laces, which is a handy feature. Peregrines boast a tight weave on the outer, protecting the foot from small grasses and grit from entering the shoe.

Definitely the most popular feature of the Peregrines is the Outsole. Offering such amazing grip, the lug pattern creates traction and control over the most technical and slippery of terrain. I have tested this numerous times over the past month with all the wet and slippery trails we have had to navigate during a very wet Brisbane summer!!! The outsole offers great flexibility and comfort while protecting your feet from feeling rocks from beneath.

The Saucony Peregrine 12’s…… an amazing, versatile, all round go to trail shoe. I could not be more pleased with this trail runner, perfect for all terrain, on both short and long runs!
